Why gentarens
What makes the difference here
Not every care home offers the same things. These are the qualities we have built deliberately — and the reasons families continue to choose us.
Back to HomeAt a Glance
The qualities that distinguish daily life at gentarens from larger or more clinical settings.
Small, close-knit community
A low resident count means staff genuinely know each person — their habits, preferences, and moods — rather than managing a crowd.
Consistent care team
Residents see familiar faces every day. We work hard to maintain staff continuity, which research consistently links to better outcomes and greater comfort.
Culturally rooted environment
Northern Thai food, language, and seasonal rhythms make gentarens feel natural and familiar for residents — not foreign or clinical.
Clear family communication
Monthly written updates, a named family coordinator, and a standing invitation to call or visit at any time.
Flexible, personal care plans
Care plans are adapted to the individual — and revised openly as needs change — rather than fitted to a standard template.
Smooth care transitions
When a resident's care level needs to change, that transition is handled carefully within the same trusted environment — without needing to move to a new facility.
A team with deep geriatric care experience
gentarens's nursing and care staff have backgrounds in geriatric nursing, post-acute rehabilitation, and community elderly support across Northern Thailand. The team's combined experience shapes how care is delivered — thoughtfully, practically, and with an awareness of the full picture of ageing.
- Head nursing staff with registered nursing qualifications
- Specialist knowledge in dementia and cognitive care
- Ongoing professional development for all care staff
- Hospital relationships that enable smooth specialist coordination
Thai Ministry of Public Health
gentarens operates in compliance with national elderly care facility standards.
8 Years of Operating
Since 2017, gentarens has served seniors and their families in the Chiang Mai region.
Regular Staff Training
All care staff attend structured training sessions covering dementia, mobility, and emotional support.
Safety & Monitoring Infrastructure
- Emergency call systems in every room
- Oxygen access and medical-grade beds in nursing rooms
- Individually adjusted environmental controls
- Regular facility safety inspections
- Digital care records updated by nursing staff each shift
- Personal data protection in line with Thailand's PDPA 2019
A safe environment, thoughtfully equipped
gentarens's facility is equipped for medical safety without the cold atmosphere of a hospital. Emergency call systems, medical-grade equipment for nursing residents, and consistent digital documentation mean that care staff always have the information they need, and families can feel confident in the safety of their relative's environment.
A coordinator who is genuinely reachable
Many care facilities offer a general contact number. gentarens assigns a named family support coordinator to each resident's family — a real person who knows your relative's situation and can give a considered, honest response rather than a generic update.
- Monthly written updates on each resident's wellbeing
- Named coordinator available to families by phone or email
- Family included in all significant care decisions
- English and Thai communication available
- Open-door policy for family visits (arranged in advance)
"We want families to feel part of the care team, not waiting outside it."

Veranda Day Program — ฿11,500/month
Daytime care and activities, Northern Thai meals, light personal support, and local transportation coordination.
Teak Residence — ฿35,000/month
Full-time residential living, personal care, meals, housekeeping, enrichment schedule, and family coordination.
Full Nursing Residence — ฿62,500/month
Everything in the Teak Residence plus 24-hour nursing, rehabilitation, cognitive support, nutritional planning, and end-of-life care.
Straightforward, all-in monthly pricing
gentarens's monthly fees are comprehensive and clearly described. Families should not encounter unexpected charges for core services. Where additional costs may apply — for specialist medical visits or external therapies — these are discussed openly before any arrangement is made. Our three programs cover a wide range of care needs, and our team will help you understand which option makes sense for your family.
Care that continues to adapt
Needs change. A senior who joins the Veranda Day Program one year may require full residential care the next. gentarens's structure means that when those changes come, families do not need to find a new facility, rebuild trust with a new team, or disrupt the resident's sense of place. The familiarity remains, even as the support level changes.
- Seamless transitions between care programs
- Quarterly formal care plan reviews with family input
- Palliative and end-of-life comfort care available in-house
- Honest reporting — families are told what is actually happening

What Only gentarens Offers
Northern Thai kitchen — not a canteen
Meals at gentarens are prepared fresh daily using locally sourced Northern Thai ingredients. Residents with specific dietary needs receive individually adapted portions — planned with a nutrition professional.
Gentle herbal and garden-based activities
From herbal sachet making to guided garden walks, our enrichment program draws on the natural environment of San Sai — providing sensory engagement and a sense of purpose that generic activities rarely achieve.
Families are always part of the care team
We do not treat families as visitors to a professional process. Our coordinators work alongside families throughout the care journey, including in all significant decisions and transitions.
End-of-life care that honours the person
When comfort care is needed, gentarens provides it in familiar surroundings, with the same team the resident has come to trust — rather than transferring to an unfamiliar setting at the most sensitive time.
